We are currently experiencing a campus-wide internet outage. Our team has identified a resolution and is working on implementing it onsite. We will provide further updates as they become available.
The campus-wide outage is continuing. We are still working on implementing a solution. Some web pages and applications may be intermittently accessible to those off-campus.
Services are coming back online and our technicians are working to confirm the restoration of all services.

We are investigating an issue with SAS servers which are impacting the VCU Reporting Center and SAS Enterprise Guide. We’re working to fix the problem as quickly as we can.

We are continuing to experience widespread internet connectivity issues impacting systems on both campuses. We are currently in escalated communication with our external vendor to determine the root cause and implement a fix.
Services are starting to come back online and work continues to restore all services.

If your Windows computer is not loading and is giving a blue screen error, it has been impacted. Please report it to the IT Support Center at 804-828-2227 or directly to your local IT departmental tech support so they can assist with a fix.
If your Windows computer is working normally, there is nothing you need to do or update and you were not impacted by this outage.

The TS system incident caused by the global Crowdstrike outage have been resolved and TS services are now up and running. Big thank you to everyone involved!
There are still some users whose machines are affected and have not yet been remediated. Additionally, the VCU fixIT repair shop on campus is open from 10 am - 4 pm and is happy to assist.
The ISP for the Universities backup internet connected has experienced a service outage due to a commercial power outage. Current estimates of power restoration are for July 21st. The Universities primary internet connection is up and operational. There has been no disruption to the Universities internet services.
ImageNow is currently unavailable. Staff is researching the cause and troubleshooting and trying to resolve.

On Thursday April 11th starting at 5pm, Fiber maintenance will occur to prepare for the move of our MARIA 100Gbs link from Pocahontas to the new data center at TOC. There are redundant paths to the internet, Internet 2, and other off campus resources, however a momentary delay while circuits switch to the redundant path is possible.
The fiber maintenance was successfully completed.
Starting at 4pm on Tuesday March 12, our fiber contractor will be pulling a new 288 fiber cable to support the new TOC data center. There should not be any impact to other fibers in the area.
On Friday 2/2/24 from 5 AM - 6 AM, users will exprience a short internet outages while we perform critical troubleshooting of the 100Gig Internet connection from VCU. The outages will occur for approximately 3-5 mins and there will be 2-3 of those in that hour. We expect to main our internet connection during this change via the secondary internet connection out of Harris Hall data center.
All work was completed on 2/2/2024 as expected.
We are getting reports that some sites are back up and other resources are available. We are continuing to look into the issue to determine a root cause
